As I’ve previously mentioned, I’ve long since fallen off the Kevin Smith bandwagon, but I still have a soft spot for the guy, so here we are.
Also, it was late but I wanted to watch something, and this “movie” barely clocks in at over an hour. Just like how it’s late right now but I wanted to write something and this seemed like a quick one.
What I knew
Very little. This had been out for a while by the time I’d heard of it. I’m not on top of Kevin Smith news (askew) anymore.
I did enjoy the Clerks animated series, though, so this seemed worth a shot.
What I know
Holy moly, this is wretched. Like, on the short list of worst movies I’ve ever seen, wretched.
Everything about this is bad. Animation? Bad. Story? Bad. Voice acting? Bad. Jokes? Such as they are, bad. It’s honestly kind of impressive in its own way.
If you were expecting something close to the style or quality of the Clerks animated series, this ain’t it. If you were expecting something watchable, this also ain’t it. If you want “so bad it’s good,” look elsewhere. Might I recommend Megalopolis? It’s still really bad but it’s a fascinating bad.
So yeah, this is not just missable, it has no redeeming qualities. And yet, Jay & Silent Bob Reboot will still wind up covered here someday, I’m sure. My nostalgic soft spot can’t be killed that easily. Plus, there’s no way it can be worse.
